Bob Bahr
Interim Pastor

Bob was born in Vancouver. He grew up on the North Shore and became a Christian during his first year of University. As a new Christian, he felt God's call to pastoral ministry. He graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Education degree and taught in school in BC for two years before enrolling in Bethel Seminary in St. Paul Minnesota. Upon his graduation from Seminary, he was married to Marleen. They have two grown children and six grandchildren.

Bob's first full-time pastorate was here at Broadmoor. He has a heart for pastoral ministry and for preaching and teaching God's Word. His greatest delight is to see people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. He also has a heart for missions and has spent time training and equipping pastors in Rwanda, Kenya and Malawi. He and his wife are also involved in providing support for orphaned and vulnerable children in Kigoli, Rwanda.

Bob also has a passion for photography.

He is pleased to be able to use his gifts and experience to prepare Broadmoor for the calling of a new Senior Pastor.

Marilyn Chan
Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Worship

Marilyn was born and raised in Toronto (please don't hold that against her)! She married her college sweetheart, Rob, in 1996 and they have two beautiful daughters: Jessie and Katie. She and her family moved to Richmond in January 2005 after accepting the call to come as Broadmoor's Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Worship. It has been a joy and a privilege to join with this congregation as we walk together on this amazing journey of faith we call Christianity.

Three of Marilyn's primary interests are music, reading and hockey. Music speaks to her heart, reading stimulates her mind, and hockey....well, hockey is simply the greatest sport on the face of this planet! (And we won't mention which team Marilyn cheers for)!

Her greatest delight and privilege in ministry is to simply walk alongside the people she encounters, and to share in their journey of faith. She hopes that people will find Broadmoor to be a place where they encounter God and are transformed by the real and tangible expressions of God at work in our midst.

Phil Collins
Minister Emeritus

Phil is married to Lois. Together they have 3 adult children (Steve, Doug and Deborah Lynn) and 8 grandchildren. Phil grew up in Toronto and Lois grew up in New Brunswick, the last place being Gunningsville across the Petitcodiac River from Moncton.

They have been members of Broadmoor for almost 4 decades. 20 years while living in Richmond and the rest while living in Ladner. During these years Phil served his Lord as an Area Minister for The Baptist Union of Western Canada for 9 years, as the organizing Principal for Carey Theological College on the University of British Columbia campus for 18 years, as well as on the faculty of Regent College. Retiring from there, Phil has been serving as Interm Pastor for a number of Baptist churches and a Mennonite Church. Through the years Phil has been an active member of Broadmoor.

Phil is interested in the Local church, Christian Education on and off campus, evangalism and world mission, and, before all that, he puts family first. He is interested in photography, and bocce, a lawn bowl the whole family can play!

Cynthia Carlson
Children's Ministry Coordinator

Born in BC and raised in the United States, Cynthia returned to her roots in 1986 after completing degrees in Child Development and Public Administration and working with several non-profit organizations serving children and youth. Only three months after coming back to Canada, Cynthia met her husband Larry and they were married the following year. A few years later, their daughter Alexis was born at which time Cynthia became a stay-at-home mom. Her plans to return to work, when their daughter entered kindergarten, were changed when Cynthia felt led to homeschool Alexis until high school. In February 2005, the family moved from Abbotsford to Richmond to be closer to Larry’s job and one month later began attending Broadmoor.

Since her youth, Cynthia has had a passion for the hearts of children and continues to carry that passion as the Children’s Ministry Coordinator at Broadmoor. Her desire is to provide a nurturing and positive learning environment where children can feel inspired to learn more about the Bible and grow in their relationship with Jesus. Cynthia also enjoys reading, writing, spending time with her family, and taking long walks along the water with their little five pound dog named Zoe.

Peter Reynolds
Office Administrator

Peter was born in the Maritimes, but raised in Vancouver, so he is really a west coast boy at heart. He is married to Valerie and has three kids – Cameron, Thomas and Elizabeth.

He has been at Broadmoor Baptist Church for over 17 years and has served the church in many roles. He has found Broadmoor to be a great place to be on his spiritual journey.

His interests and hobbies include reading, music, and as much Canucks and baseball as he can fit into a very full life.
