Read moreEnglish as a Second Language
ESL at Broadmoor Baptist Church is designed to give new Canadians an opportunity to master the English language. There are three levels of classes: beginners, intermediate and advanced. There are three 10-week semesters per year. Class times are from 9:30 - 11:30 am Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students are encouraged to purchase the ‘Interchange’ text books and lessons are design from the text books as well as additional material the teachers may include. Some of the classes have Bible reading included with their lessons and conversation around material is always encouraged. At Broadmoor, we believe that good language acquisition is a result of relationships. At our ESL school, new Canadians are given opportunities to develop relationships with their native speaking teachers so to cultivate good language development. All our teachers are volunteers and give of their time freely and lovingly. We are very fortunate and grateful for the numbers of people who are kind enough to give of their time to such a ministry. If you are a native speaker of English, this might be a way you can serve your community. It is an exciting way to meet new people and learn new things from the new people who are making Canada their home.

Read moreLadies Christmas Tea
The Ladies Christmas Tea is held each year in late November or early December. Held over a two night period, the emphasis is on outreach to our neighbours and friends who do not attend Broadmoor on a regular basis. It a chance for ladies to be ‘pampered’ with tea and goodies served by the gentlemen of the church. It’s a meaningful way to start off the Christmas season as there is a special speaker, music, food donations for the Richmond Food Bank and door prizes. The decoration goes all out to make this event a special evening for all those involved. Plan to attend! More info on this event will come in October.

Read morePrayer Chain
The Purpose of the Prayer Ministry is to provide a link through the church for prayer requests.

The majority of the prayer requests are of a personal matter (health, vocation, finances, emotional issues, etc.) but can also involve current events. At present 34 Prayer Warriors are active at Broadmoor.

When a concern is voiced, it is essential that permission has been given to pass the information on. It is also hoped that the person sending in the request will keep the matter up to date.

Discretion will be used in keeping requests confidential.

If you would like to request prayer, please click on the link below, and give us as much info as you are comfortable with. The request will be sent to the Prayer Chain coordinator, who will then send it to the people on the Prayer Chain.

A Ministry for Children and Families at Broadmoor Baptist Church

Sonshine Adventures for Kids offers children (up to and including Grade 7) ways to grow in their faith.

Sonshine Discoveryland
Every Sunday morning, a group of dedicated volunteers provide children a nurturing, enriching, and enjoyable learning environment where they can grow in their relationship with Jesus and in their knowledge of the Bible. Before classes begin, the children attend the first part of the Sunday service with their parents and then go upstairs to join in a special time of worship and Bible instruction lead by the volunteers.

The following age-appropriate classes are offered: Preschool (ages 3-4); Kindergarten; Grades 1-2; Grades 3-4; and Grades 5-7.

Also, for infants, toddlers, and two year olds, a nursery staffed by warm and friendly volunteers is available starting at 10:20 a.m.

For more information about Sonshine Discoveryland, please call the church office or e-mail Cynthia Carlson at sonshine@bbchurch.ca

Our Sunday morning worship services feature a worship band with piano, bass, guitars and drums along with 2-4 talented vocalists.  The music we play is contemporary in style and celebratory in nature, infusing our service with a contagious spirit of joy. We are committed to grounding our worship experiences in the rich traditions of our Christian heritage, while seeking new and fresh ways of expressing those traditions as we gather to worship God. And we are always looking for new musicians to join our group. If you are interested in participating in this exciting ministry, please contact Marilyn Chan, Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Worship.
